This is an ideal first project for getting started in model engineering It requires no specialist tools or skills. The measurements given in this manual do not have to be adhered to with any precision and quite a lot of measuring by eye is encouraged. Even engines that have been built with everything completely "crooked" have still worked well, and looked cool too! Construction is based around an 800g soup or fruit can, most of the parts are made out of bits of scrap. When you understand the simple principles of the Stirling cycle, you will be able to design you own version of this engine. Coins, hairpins, paper clips. CD's and jewellery have been converted into engine parts with great success. |
